A verification unit, and nothing else
NEOMETRIC MEXICANA is a Verification Unit accredited by the Mexican accreditation body and approved by the National Water Commission to assess the conformity of national water metering systems with NMX-AA-179-SCFI-2018.
That sentence has a part people tend to skip: “and nothing else”. We do not supply meters, install them, repair or maintain them, and we do not transmit measurement data. CONAGUA approval requires us to abstain from all of it, and that abstention is exactly what gives weight to what we do. A report carries weight because whoever signs it has nothing to gain from its outcome.

What we do
Attest and verify, by procedure
The approval defines our work precisely: visually attesting and verifying that the meter, the metering system, its selection, installation, operation and data transmission satisfy the standard’s requirements.
What a verification looks at
- That the instrument matches the water use and its concession title.
- That the measurement point meets the conditions the standard requires.
- That the equipment registers volumes within the admitted tolerance, contrasted against calibrated standards.
- That the data reaches CONAGUA as the standard prescribes.
What you are left with
A verification report stating the outcome of the assessment, filed in CONAGUA’s electronic system under our electronic signature within ten business days. If the outcome is unfavourable, the report states the exact requirement that is not met: it is not a rejection, it is the list of what is missing.
How we work
Five principles that are not decoration
Bodies performing inspection are accredited against operating requirements, not against good intentions. These five are what sustain the validity of a report, and losing any one of them would invalidate the rest of the work.
- Independence — we have no commercial stake in the equipment we assess.
- Impartiality — the procedure is the same for an agricultural well and for a power plant.
- Integrity — the report records what was observed, including what is inconvenient.
- Confidentiality — your water use data is yours; only what the standard requires travels to the authority.
- Technical competence — verification is carried out by certified personnel, and any change to that personnel is reported to CONAGUA.
What that means in practice
Before we start we show you the documents evidencing our current accreditation and approval, the names and photographs of the verifying personnel, the names of anyone assisting, and the applicable fee. That is not courtesy: it is an obligation of the approval, and a unit that skips it is telling you something.
Who we serve
Fifteen sectors, one procedure
We serve concession and allocation holders of national water across agriculture, livestock, agribusiness, industry, mining, energy, public utilities, commerce, real estate, tourism, food, aquaculture, forestry and services, plus special water uses: deep wells, springs, infiltration galleries and shallow wells.
The standard is the same for a sugar mill and for a municipal water utility. What changes from one sector to the next is not the criterion but the conditions of the installation: the discharge assembly, the pipe diameter, access to the measurement point and the type of system involved. That shapes how the visit is planned, not how the ruling is made.
Why it matters
Measuring well is managing well
Water is a resource of the Nation and its use is paid for by volume. Without reliable measurement that volume is determined by other means, and nobody — not the user, not the authority, not whoever draws from the same aquifer — has a figure to stand on.
That is the point of a verification unit’s work: that the figure decisions rest on is one you can trust. Every report is one less number in dispute.
